Mark Schulze
President, DP and Producer at Crystal Pyramid Productions
Mark Schulze is Founder and President of two companies. The first is Crystal Pyramid Productions, an award-winning San Diego video production services company. The second is New & Unique Videos, a distribution and stock footage library. It features contemporary and archival images from around the world. And it’s a distributor of special-interest video titles.
After graduating in 1981 from UCSD with a BA in Communication and Sociology, Mark Schulze formed Crystal Pyramid Productions, a multiple-award-winning San Diego video production services company. For over three decades, Mark has served as CEO and Director of Photography. He’s worked with Inside Edition, Extra, IBM, UPS, Scripps VA Hospital and many other corporate and broadcast clients.
New & Unique Videos
Mark Schulze also heads New & Unique Videos, a stock-footage library and special-interest video production and distribution company since 1985.
New & Unique Videos has produced and distributed a dozen award-winning special-interest video titles including the world’s first instructional massage video, “Massage For Relaxation,” and world’s first mountain-bike instructional video, “The Great Mountain Biking Video.” In 1994 N&UV produced a video called “Full Cycle: A World Odyssey,” a mountain-bike travel adventure to nine exotic countries, starring Mark Schulze and his wife, Patty Mooney, that earned 15 international awards and kudos from countless publications. In 2008, Mark and Patty produced “The Invisible Ones: Homeless Combat Veterans,” which drew attention to the issue of homeless veterans.
Three-Time Top 100 Producer
Mark is a three-time “Top 100 Producer.” His specialties include green-screen interviews of CEOs and celebrities, and “run ‘n gun” shoots using his Easyrig. He knows how to elicit sterling interviews from talent, and how to set up lighting to make them look great.
In 1981, he graduated from UCSD with honors, after having majored in Sociology and Communications. That same year he formed Crystal Pyramid Productions. He served as President and National Board Member of the San Diego Chapter of San Diego Media Pros (Media Communications Association International). For nearly a decade he was the official Gala videographer for the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. He is a lifetime member of the UCSD Alumni Association. He often shoots and produces many programs for non-profit agencies at substantial discounts or pro bono as a way of giving back to the community.
His philosophy of life: “Be now.”
Mark is an early innovator of the helmet camera (circa 1987).
